THE STORY BEHIND THE MISSION
HHI has identified new ministry partners in Monterrey, a region currently rated Level 2. Monterrey offers a safer corridor for hands-on mission work, including building homes for families in need. This new partnership allows the continuation of meaningful service in Mexico while prioritizing safety.
After a scouting trip in March 2026, Helping Hands International began partnering with Homes of Hope Monterrey, a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) ministry that has been building homes for families in the Monterrey area since 2015. Our first team is on the ground right now — July 5th through 11th — building homes for two local families:
The Torres Hernández Family — Alondra (25) and Marco Antonio (28) are raising two children, Britany (10) and Anthony Mateo (6). Marco works as a bricklayer assistant and is the family’s main provider. They currently share his mother’s home because they have not been able to establish a home of their own — until now.
The Cisneros Cruz Family — Jennifer (25) and Apolinar are raising two little ones, Neylan (2) and Thiago (1). Jennifer is a cancer survivor who kept her family going through savings groups she organized during her treatment. They live with Apolinar’s mother, who has given them a piece of land — and that is exactly where their new home is going up this week.

OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES:
Build a Home – We will primarily be focused on blessing needy families by building single family homes, complete with a cement floor, real windows, a door that locks and a roof that will not leak when it rains! We will also provide the families with a bathroom and shower area.
Play with Children — Activities with local children typically include playing games, giving away candy and balloons, crafts and showing the love of Jesus through our actions at the job site.
Attend Local Church — We typically attend a lively Mexican church service with our ministry partners.
Fellowship – While the activities involved in building a home allow for times of fellowship, we also take time to enjoy local food and culture prior to departing.
Purpose – When we build a house for a family we are demonstrating the love of Jesus – who saw our need and provided for us! This act also helps to break the poverty cycle, improve health and education opportunities for children, give families more hope for the future and builds relationships. What To Expect
Our team stays with our YWAM ministry partners in Monterrey. Days follow the Homes of Hope rhythm: breakfast and morning devotions, building on site through the afternoon, and evenings of food and fellowship with the team and local partners.
What to Bring
Monterrey is hot in July — plan for sun and heat.
Bible
Bath: bath towel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, personal items etc.
Clothes: work clothes, one nice (not dressy) outfit for church, work gloves, bandanna or hat
Shoes: tennis or work shoes are preferred (e.g. no bare feet at any time)
Other: camera, flashlight, hand sanitizer, sunscreen and a large water bottle
DRESS CODE
No undergarments showing at any time
Dresses/skirts for outreach should be mid-calf to ankle
No tank tops, low-cut, scoop neck or tight fitting shirts; sleeveless is ok
Men cannot take off their shirts
