THE STORY BEHIND THE MISSION

With the help of local leaders, Helping Hands International began sponsoring the Christian Dream School and launching a Child Sponsorship Program in Rakwaro, Kenya around 2016. Rakwaro is a remote village in northwestern Kenya near the shores of Lake Victoria, where access to education, consistent meals, and basic resources is extremely limited.

What began as support for approximately 70 families and more than 100 children in this small village has steadily grown. Over the past several years, the Child Sponsorship Program has expanded to include multiple schools in Nairobi—such as Mcedo Beijing School, Bethany Education Centre, and Destiny Junior Academy—as well as the Amati Center for Orphans in Kakamega.

Today, more than 200 students are supported through our Child Sponsorship Program. These children receive regular meals, education, and biblical teaching—made possible through God’s faithfulness and the commitment of monthly sponsors who believe in investing in the next generation.

In 2021, Helping Hands International also launched a College and Trade School Scholarship Program for students who have graduated from high school and desire to pursue higher education or vocational training. This program helps students move beyond survival and toward long-term stability, purpose, and leadership within their communities.

When you join a service trip to Kenya, you don’t just hear about the impact—you experience it firsthand. Trip participants have the opportunity to visit the schools, serve alongside local leaders, and, for those who are sponsors, personally meet their sponsored child and see how their support is changing lives.

We invite you to prayerfully consider joining us on a service trip to Kenya or becoming a monthly sponsor. Your involvement helps bring hope, dignity, and lasting transformation to children and families who need it most.
